CD Projekt Red has revealed to Edge that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is up to 100 hours long with the game's story lasting 50 hours. Players will also have access to 40-50 hours worth of side missions.
Marek Ziemak, the title's gameplay producer, compared the game to Bethesda's Skyrim saying "Skyrim, which I think we all love, is a rather short game in terms of the main storyline. If you just want to focus on that element and you're not that interested in exploring the world, it's not that big. But that's the core of The Witcher 3: the main story. It's 40, 50 hours, plus the open world."
The studios also says will be able to play for another 50 hours or so by completing the title's side quests.
Ziemak says the game is "closer, more personal, and a bit more bloody" and new Witcher Senses allow players to identify enemy weak points in combat or track foes in open world; clearly building on the Batman: Arkham series' Detective Mode.
Managing director Adam Badowski spoke about the technology going into the game commenting "All the next-gen platforms look similar from a technical point of view. There are differences in user experience, but they're all 64bit architecture, DX11 or something similar, [which] puts us in a very comfortable situation."
Edge were shown a DirectX11 demo of the game.
The Witcher 3 will be the final chapter in protagonist Geralt's story but CD Projekt Red says the series will continue. Wild Hunt is set to come with three distinct playable epilogues which will be determined by your choices in the game.
The game is set to be released next year for Xbox One and PC, it will mark the series' debut on PlayStation with a PS4 version also in the works.
