Ladies and gentlemen, all the rumors we’ve heard over the past few months have been true. Although we were directly told that David Hayter would not reprise his role as Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, many assumed that this was just some sort of strange trick thought up by Kojima. The man did go to great lengths to hide the fact that The Phantom Pain was a Metal Gear game, if you remember correctly. However, it was today revealed that it will be Kiefer Sutherland providing the voice for the grizzled Big Boss, and yes, Hayter has decided to speak up since the news broke.
Hayter may have seemed a bit downtrodden after he learned that he would no longer be Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid game, his recent Tweet seems to indicate that he’s content with who’s taking his place. Of course, he’d likely rather be in the booth right now instead of at home watching the Konami event, but Hayter still manages to be as cordial as ever.
"Ah well, can't fault Kiefer Sutherland. Great actor, good man,” Hayter wrote. “The game will probably still be excellent. Like New Coke!”
Well, no one likes New Coke, so maybe there is just a slight jab at the end of the Tweet. Still, it seems like Hayter has accepted the news and will be moving on. That is, unless there really is something fishy going on here. When it comes to Kojima, you just never really know.
