Select PS3, Vita Games Being Turned Offline

June 5, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Sony is turning off the servers for a few PlayStation 3 and Vita games.

Some games just can’t stay online forever. Although single-player features will forever be accessible as long as you own the functioning disc for a game, online servers for products that either never caught on or are just too old to care about must eventually shut down. Major companies like EA, Ubisoft, and Sony recognize that fact. That's why in the coming months, Sony will be turning off the servers for a handful of PlayStation products that you may own.

The UK PlayStation Blog today posted a list of certain online products will soon only be playable solo. We’ve seen this happen in the past, but what’s interesting is the inclusion of a PlayStation Vita game. This is the first time this has occurred on the portable console. The rest, though, makes quite a bit of sense.

Servers will be down as of Sept. 15, 2013 for the following games:

PlayStation Vita

  • MLB 12 The Show

After this date, you will still be able to play this game offline.

Servers will be down as of August 2, 2013 for the following games:

PlayStation 3

  • Buzz!: Quiz-TVB
  • Buzz!: Quiz-World
  • Buzz!: Brain of
  • Buzz!: The Ultimate Music Quiz

After this date, you will still be able to play these games offline.

Servers will be down as of June 18, 2013 for the following games:

PlayStation 3

  • White Knight Chronicles
  • White Knight Chronicles II
