Sony may be able to produce violent, mature experiences like Killzone: Shadow Fall, but that doesn’t mean that the PlayStation-maker isn’t capable of releasing charming adventures for a younger audience. That’s been displayed in the past through projects like LittleBigPlanet, and the latest major adventure that seems to follow a similar mold is Puppeteer. Instead of waiting a week at E3 to witness the latest gameplay trailer for the theatrical title, Sony has cut the strings early and released a new chunk of content.
If you haven’t heard of Puppeteer before, it’s time to get you up to speed. The PlayStation exclusive follows the hero Kutaro, who saw himself carried away by the evil Moon Bear King to a black castle where he was unwillingly transformed into a puppet. Because he soon angered the King, the evil leader devoured the boy's wooden head and threw away the rest of his body. While that would be the end of most tales, in Puppeteer, it’s only just the beginning.
There’s more than just Kutaro’s fate on the line. As the animated narrator likes to point out, the entire galaxy is also hanging in the balance. You wouldn’t know that from the actual gameplay being shown in the above video, though, as Kutaro seems to be battling enemy after enemy with nothing more than a scissors at his disposal. However, the small title seems to have a big heart, a $39.99 price tag that’s pretty appealing, too. Look to follow the adventures of this Puppeteer when it launches for PS3 Sept. 10.
