As one might recall, after setting records, making headlines, and popularizing a new form method of financing last year, among other accomplishments, Double Fine recently took to Kickstarter to fund their second game.
And guess what? Massive Chalice has already been funded. Just five days after the project was launched, it managed to meet its goal of $725,000. As of this writing, it's at $782,847, and the safe bet is that the dollar amount will be even higher when all is said and done. And that's over three weeks from now, since there's 22 days left to go till the Kickstarter wraps up.
Now, there are those out there, the cynical types, who are quick to point out that their first stab at crowd sourced funding was able to reach its goal in far quicker fashion. But even though only a year has passed, the landscape has changed significantly and there simply are more games out there asking for assistance. Furthermore, the asking amount is much higher this time around.
Then you have those who don't believe enough of the project has been put on the table, but simply ask the countless Double Fine fans out there who pledged, or simply those dying for a great turn-based title, if they had any hesitation when putting their money down. Go ahead.
At any rate, and as the video above explains, Double Fine has listened to feedback, hence why new tiers have been added, including a physical copy. They’re also considering the idea of stretch goals, though it’s believed that it’s way too early to make the call on such things.
