Although 2K Games won’t be having an official booth at this year’s E3, the company has plenty of software to offer to its loyal fans in 2013. One of the biggest, most-played franchises in the company’s repertoire is NBA 2K, and while the video just released isn’t exactly brimming with gameplay footage showcasing the realism of the athletes, it does tease an announcement that’s only a couple of days away.
Sure, it isn’t really all that impressive for 2K to use a trailer to tease what’s likely to be another new trailer, but fans of the NBA are pretty excited for any new basketball content. The date that’s being discussed is June 6, which is the first game of the 2013 Finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs. The official Twitter account of 2K sports has been alluding to this date for some time, and now we know that something big is on the horizon.
What we’ll probably be seeing during that date is some footage of NBA 2K14 during the commercial breaks of the game, as well as a possible cover athlete. The publisher has taken advantage of the NBA Finals in the past in order to get some excitement around the annual sports franchise, so expect something substantial during the first game of this series. However, with this titles often releasing in October, we probably won’t witness any drastic engine changes since the game will be out before the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
