Did you know that The Last of Us has multiplayer? While most developers would be waving their competitive modes directly in the face of the consumer, Naughty Dog and Sony have both stayed pretty silent when it comes to the non single-player portion of the upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive. Recently, we saw both images and hidden information come to the surface that began to paint a pretty picture for this post-apocalyptic title’s multiplayer features, but we’re finally done beating around the bush. The first official trailer showing off this unique experience, which could possibly be “the best multiplayer ever conceived,” has been released.
Similar to the campaign found in The Last of Us, the multiplayer looks to supply players with little to work with. Each small team of survivors will have to battle for supplies, craft their own weapons, and upgrade their arsenal in order to survive each and every skirmish. The goal will be to survive 12 weeks, and during that time, build your clan as much as possible. The more soldiers you can cobble together, the better chance you’ll have to make it out alive.
It won’t be easy, though. Over the course of those dozen weeks, marauders will attack your camp, dysentery will infect your people, and supplies will be stolen. Every moment of the multiplayer in The Last of Us seems to be filled to the brim with tension, which sounds like a wonderful match for the single-player offerings. The game will make its way to the PlayStation 3 June 14.
