Harmonix, the creator of Rockband and Dance Central, has teamed up with Disney to create Fantasia: Music Evolved which is based around the classic animated movie from 1940 and will use the Kinect sensor. The game is coming to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One though a release date has not yet been announced.
Disney Interactive's executive producer, Chris Nicholls, informed Polygon that the game is about placing "the power and magic of music in the player's hands … so rather than sit quietly in a dark theater and admire the creativity of others, now we allow you to step into Mickey's shoes and learn to wield the power of music."
Players will take on the role of the sorcerer's apprentice who, for some bizarre reason, has been tasked with performing a series of musical numbers aimed at bringing life to the world's created by the sorcerer Yen Sid. Environments in the game include underwater landscapes devoid of music which you'll be tasked with bringing to life.
Tracks present in the game include Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and Bruno Mars' Locked Out of Heaven.
As for the Music Evolved subtitle Harmonix are no doubt looking to recall memories of Halo: Combat Evolved but whether Fantasia will have the same impact on the music genre that Halo had on first person shooters you can decide for yourself.
