Up until now, you've had two different Wii U models to choose from. The Basic Set, which is in white and only has an 8GB hard drive (one that gets filled mighty fast) or a the Deluxe Set, which is in black and has a 32GB hard drive (one that offers far more breathing room, though it's hardly enough realistically).
The choice is simple if you care not for the color of the system, but if you do, it's a different story. Especially since there is no way to upgraded the internet hard drive. Sure you can attach a compatible external drive. But if you're the type to fuss about a console's color, then having an extra bit hanging on is not great news either.
So for those of you on the fence, if only because of this reason (and not, say, the limited amount of software after, six months into the system's shelf life), you might be interested in knowing how a 32GB variant of the Premium Set (which is what they called the Deluxe model) has just been announced in Japan.
Though at for the time being, this is a Japan only deal. When Joystiq asked about the possibility of it being made available in America, a Nintendo representative replied with:
"… this is a Japanese announcement… all other territories will make announcements if relevant."
There is the possibility that it might be revealed for Western territories at E3. Or maybe not; Nintendo's multitude of color options is always a Japan only deal. Heck, they won't even release an all white 3DS, despite many people wanting it badly.
