Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Grand Theft Auto publisher Take Two, has commented that he would "like to do zombies in everything" adding "I probably can't say that here. But they do sell."
Zelnick was commenting on the expansion packs for Red Dead Redemption, notably the Undead Nightmare pack, which he describes as "immensely profitable."
Explaining the success the executive added "partially that's because we had the presence of mind to add zombies to the title; and everyone always loves zombies. I'd like to do zombies in everything, but I probably can't say that here. But they do sell."
Zelnick made his comments at the Cowen Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in New York today.
While there has been a proliferation of zombie titles recently they continue to perform extremely well with TellTale's adaptation of The Walking Dead being named 2012 Game of the Year. Dead Island: Riptide, one of the latest zombie titles, has sold well on the game charts.
Last week Dying Light was announced which appears to be a cross between Mirror's Edge and Dead Island.
Undead Nightmare sees Red Dead Redemption protagonist John Marston travel across the Wild West in search of a cure for a zombie outbreak.
