If you’re a Wii U owner (God bless your soul), the gaming life isn’t all that great right now. Third-party publishers seem to be comfortable skipping out on the dual-screen system, the gaming community is throwing insults at your console whenever possible, and exclusives are rarer than a red Gyarados. We won’t know what’s next for Mario or Metroid until next month’s E3 event, but the fact that Pikmin 3 still hasn’t even made it to retailers is just sad. It feels like we’ve been waiting for the colorful adventures of Alph, Brittany, and Charlie for years now, but instead of twiddling our thumbs until its summer release, let’s spend that time looking at this new batch of screens that has just been released.
If you don’t remember, Pikmin is a challenging real-time strategy game wrapped in a cute, bright shell. Unlike the war-themed games within the genre that have players commanding well-armed forces into battle, the inhabitants of the planet Koppai use the Pikmin to help gather food and supplies for their hungry people. There are violent members of the Pikmin ecosystem, but thankfully, the little plant people know a thing or two about how to defend themselves.
After all this time, Pikmin 3 will be launching on the Wii U August 4. Yes, dear readers, that’s just a couple more months away. You can expect to befriend all these friendly little creatures (including the new, winged Pikmin that was revealed last month) on your Nintendo console very, very soon.
