Ubisoft has put up a new video showcasing some behind-the-scenes action of Watch Dogs. In the video, an Ubisoft community developer gives us an impression of the work on the motion capture (mocap) recordings at the Ubisoft Montreal mocap studio.
The video takes place during a mocap session of takedowns and combat.
"For Aidan we tried to create a fighting style that's a lot more realistic than what you normally see. We didn't want to do anything that was fancy or showy. We wanted to create a brutal street fighting style. Almost survival fighting," said the game's animation director, Colin Graham. "So every move that he makes is about trying to take somebody out. There is no move that's just for show. Everything is just raw and fast and extremely violent. It's called shock and awe style of fighting."
"From an animation point of view, Aidan Pearce is a character that we try to show is both intelligent and extremely violent. He does things that give him a tactical advantage. He uses little things like his tactical baton, or just the way he sort of sneaks around—he uses all of these components to outsmart his enemies."
The game is slated for release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 21 this year. Versions of the game are also planned for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
