"Deus Ex: Human Revolution" would have originally been released this week had Eidos and Square Enix not delayed the game. The failure of "Final Fantasy XIII" and its MMORPG counterpart, "Final Fantasy XIV" came as a huge blow to the company's profits and as such, pushing the release of "Human Revolution" to a different fiscal quarter was in their best interest.
There was speculation that the game's release would be pushed back by a year, but thankfully these fears were revealed to be unfounded as Eidos Montreal has come out to announced today that the long-awaited cyberpunk game is to have an August 23 release date in North America on the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms. It will be released on August 26 in Europe.
"Deus Ex: Human Revolution" will be released in two editions. The standard edition carries a price tag of $60, while an Augmented Edition, priced at $70, includes an art book, a DVD with behind-the-scenes features and a motion graphic novel on a bonus disc. GameStop pre-orders will receive a mission pack with a cameo of J.C. Denton, as well as in-game assets in the form of an automatic lockpick, explosives and a grenade launcher.
The news that these GameStop-exclusive pre-orders will contain what amounts to a paid DLC can't be expected to go well with too many players.
