In order for Relic Entertainment to test their game servers, they need volunteers to "play" Company of Heroes 2 to prepare the servers for launch.
This stress test does not come masked as a beta, yet the developers made it very clear that it "is not marketing thing." The stress test will act as a way for Relic to ensure the servers can handle the launch overload and provide a stable connection to play online.
Unlike for launch, Relic hopes the servers break and buckle under the pressure of this stress test, which means players looking to complete full games or even play at all, will run into connection issues that Relic can hopefully diagnose and address.
To sign up for this purposely unstable, broken version of Company of Heroes 2, players can take part by sending a request to coh2servertest@relic[dot]com.
As a warning, Relic urges participants to not share their login information with friends as the increased player count will conflict with their anticipated numbers and create additional issues in Company of Heroes 2's development, potentially delaying release.
Company of Heroes 2, a World War 2 themed real-time strategy game, will release June 25th on PC.
