Pokemon – what are we going to do with you? The news just keeps rolling for Pokemon X and Y. Though today's news might be a bit smaller than other announcements, it's important nonetheless.
What has hit the Pokemon phase space today comes in the form of new information regarding certain evolutions and some brand new gameplay. All of this new media comes courtesy of Pokemon Smash Live.
While much of the show is comprised of nonsensical blabber, there are a couple of points crucial to the upcoming Pokemon games. At 40 minutes and 10 seconds into the episode, some new gameplay is shown, along with a couple of evolutions to different Pokemon.
The real hook is at 45:35, though, where Mewtwo makes his return to the Pokemon franchise. Mewtwo is hailed by many players and fans as the very best "pocket monster" ever crafted by Game Freak and Nintendo. Not only are his statistics and abilities top notch, but he's had movies made about his exploits as well – he even made Pikachu cry!
If you watch carefully, you can see Mewtwo making short work of a number of very powerful Pokemon, including the likes of Emerald version's "Rayquaza," another extremely strong legendary monster.
Pokemon X and Y could easily be seen as a turning point for the series. The franchise has never undergone such a major overhaul, and with the return of classics such as Mewtwo, it's hard to see where failure is even a possibility. Pokemon fans have been awaiting a revitalization of the series, and from what we've seen, they're going to get it.
