Does anyone remember Peter Molyneux and his Curiosity project that was released a few months back in November of 2012? We sure do, and we've finally gotten word from the esteemed developer – even if it wasn't by his own doing.
Bryan Henderson from Edinburgh, Scotland reached the center of the cube today, which was the underlying goal of Curiosity all along. What he was shown is something entirely out of the gaming norm, and he decided to share it with all of us.
Henderson will play a key role in Molyneux's upcoming game, Godus. According to Molyneux, Henderson will "be the God of all people that are playing Godus," who continued, "You will intrinsically decide on the rules that the game is played on."
What was really a shocker is that Henderson will be getting paid for his triumph in the cube. "You will share in the success of the product," said Molyneux. "Every time people spend money on Godus, you will get a small piece of that pie."
Gamers getting paid to play video games. It's like being a Quality Assurance tester, but without having to play the same segment of video game one-thousand times. With the games industry being so saturated, it's a rarity to see this kind of profit-sharing between would-be consumers and game creators. Molyneux has always been a bit of a unique bird, though – in a good way!
It will be interesting to see how Godus turns out and what kind of leader – or god – Bryan Henderson will be. Only time will tell.
