Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn has a release date of August 27th for PlayStation and PC with subscriptions for MMO title costing players $12.99 (€10.99/£7.69) per month.
Naoki Yoshida, A Realm Reborn's producer and director, commented that "It give me great pleasure to announce the release date. It has been a long road from the game's inception to the beta, but thanks to your fervent support and invaluable feedback, the world of Eorzea will soon complete its journey of rebirth.
"We have endeavoured to make the game affordable so that adventurers will be able to experience the vibrant world of Eorzea. We have also prepared a Collector's Edition verions of the game, which includes a veritable assortment of premium items. The new adventure begins on 27th August, 2013. I hope to see you then!" Yoshida added.
Final Fantasy XIV was originall released on PC in 2010 and was taken offline in November 2012 after it was slated by both fans and critics. A Realm Reborn will feature the original story but comes with a new client, graphics engine, server structure, a refined interface and a host of other improvements.
In February, at the PlayStation Meeting where the PS4 was announced, Square Enix asked Final Fantasy fans to "be excited" for E3 where a next-gen entry in the series will likely be revealed. Final Fantasy: Lightning's Return is also set to hit current generation consoles this year.
