Imgur user WallyMcWalrus, which we're reasonably confident is not his real name, has helpfully put together screenshots from both Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the eagerly anticipated next installment in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto V, which is set to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.
The Grand Theft Auto V screenshots, courtesy of GameInformer and InsideGamer, showcase a variety of the environments the game's three protagonists will find themselves in and many of the San Andreas images are quite close in terms of setting if not aesthetics.
We see cycling, speedboats as well as high speed chases and fires. All of the images are contained in the gallery below.
Rockstar has previously released a trailer highlighting each of the game's main characters. While some were disgruntled by the fact that Trevor, Michael and Franklin are all male it seems female heist assistants will also be present in the game. Some additional characters and voice actors have been unearthed as well.
Rockstar has confirmed that all screenshots released for Grand Theft Auto V are from current generation consoles.
