One of the most beloved, expansive JRPGs to be released on the PlayStation 2 and GameCube, Tales of Symphonia, will be making its long-awaited debut on the PlayStation 3 in glorious HD, if a recent report by the main man behind the franchise is to be believed. It was series producer Hideo Baba, the man who recently discussed the effects of social games on the market, who told Spanish website Koi-Nya this news during the Madrid Expomanga event this year.
Instead of simply featuring the first adventure, Baba has confirmed that the Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition pack will include the original title's Wii-exclusive sequel, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, along with the original. Both will be enhanced with HD graphics, and while it hasn’t been confirmed, you can expect Trophies to make both games even more content rich.
Baba also said that the game will be "a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans, who have long been wanting it.” There’s been a great deal of noise about an HD remake ever since, well, the dawn of HD remakes. Although there may not be a great deal of high-profile, big-budget JRPGs making their way to current-generation consoles, the wide fanbase still exists and feeds on news like this.
However, no release date has been even teased for Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition. It’s still unclear whether or not this will be a straight port or a new version with additional content, but for now, we should all just rejoice that this is finally happening.
