Sega has announced that the latest entry in the Total War series, Rome 2, is set for release on September 3. Available in both physical and digital forms, the game will be available worldwide, exclusive to the PC.
Pre-orders for the game will open up today, giving anyone who elects to take advantage of the deal to receive the Greek States Culture DLC for free on the game's release day, which includes three playable factions: Epirus, Athens, and Sparta—because what would a game set in classical antiquity be like without the legions of King Leonidas to lead the way?
In addition to the game's release date and pre-order announcements, a Collector's Edition is also going to be made available, and limited to 22,000 individually numbered units. The set will contain a numbered copy of the game, a Tabula game set, three Tesserae dice, a canvas map, a Total War Cards: Punic Wars game, and a functional siege catapult. Seriously, it's got a little catapult in it—one that actually works!
