Not to be outdone by Sony’s stellar sneaker or Freaker Sneak’s SNES styled Air Jordans, Sega has formed a partnership with Puma to unleash a brand new beast from its cage. The beast in question? A shoe.
The Puma x Sega RS-0 Sonic is essentially Sonic the Hedgehog themed footwear, but a step up from the iconic, red trekkers brought out to celebrate Sonic’s 26th anniversary. Instead of a red and white duopoly, these kicks sport a mostly blue exterior that pays homage to Sonic’s skin colour, while the midsole and outer sole are painted white and red respectively. The yellow section probably corresponds to the gold buckle that’s occasionally featured in Sonic’s shoe design, whereas the green addition is a touch more mysterious. We’ve reached out to Sonic for comment.
The collaboration was teased a few days ago by the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account. A full reveal is on the horizon, promising both Sonic fans and sneakerheads a more detailed look at the shoe in question. Puma’s alliance with Sega is an effort to reinvigorate the RS (Running Series) line which can be traced back to the eighties. The Puma x Sega RS-0 Sonic will launch in June.
