Schedule 1 Gets Hit With Copyright Infringement Investigation

April 4, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what we know so far!

March held some pretty notable video game releases. You had games like Two Point Museum, Split Fiction, Atomfall, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, to name just a few. However, one of the games that might have slipped past your radar initially that turned out to be a big hit was Schedule 1. This game was released towards the end of last month and racked up a ton of players on Steam.

However, now it looks like the studio behind the game, TVGS, is being investigated. That’s not something you’d like to see after releasing a successful game into the marketplace. According to a report from Insider Gaming, that’s what is happening right now from the publishing team Movie Games SA. They feel the developers behind Schedule 1 are guilty of copyright infringement after both take up the idea of running a drug simulator empire.

If you haven’t seen this game already, Schedule 1 is centered around becoming a drug lord. You’re starting out small and slowly branching to bigger and harder drugs. This includes everything from producing the product, hiring some helping hands, expanding your business, and selling the product for a nice profit.

That said, you have the law to worry about and rival drug cartels hoping to take you off the streets permanently. As mentioned, a whole lot of people wanted to live out their own Break Bad style experience with the game, as it has gained an overwhelmingly positive reception with over 50,000 user reviews. Again, that’s not bad for an indie game released just this past week.

The investigation is ongoing, as again, Movie Games SA feel their own games, Drug Dealer Simulator and its sequel, Drug Dealer Simulator 2, are being infringed upon. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes from this investigation and potential court orders that will follow.

At any rate, Schedule 1 is still readily available to purchase and play today. Currently, the game is only available through early access on the Steam digital marketplace. For now, you can view a trailer of the game below or check out some of our guides on the game right here if you need a helping hand when it comes to moving product.
