Deus Ex: Sonic Augmentation Tribute Album Released

April 26, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

This album will feature a slew of music from the popular PC franchise.

Let’s not get into the “are video games art?” conversation right now. Instead, let’s talk about video game music as artistic expression. OverClocked ReMix, an organization founded in 1999 to promote and appreciate video game music as an art form, has just announced its 39th arrangement album, Deus Ex: Sonic Augmentation. Oh yeah, it's out right now.

Working with Eidos Montreal, Overclocked has crafted this album as a true tribute to the original Deus Ex released in 2000 for the PC. Eight tracks by 10 different artists inspired by the game's futuristic world will be featured, with hints of sequels Deus Ex: Invisible War and Deus Ex: Human Revolution added to the mix.

"In collaboration with OC ReMix, the world's #1 online video game music remix organization, original composer Alexander Brandon and the OC ReMix team have completely remixed and re-imagined the slammin' sounds of the original Deus Ex soundtrack to bring them to you like you've never heard before," Eidos Montreal's Adam Badke said.

"Even if you've heard other music from all of the contributors here, all ten of them presented ideas and sounds different than what you're used to hearing from them. Get ready for a different side of these talented composers and arrangers, as well as a different side to Deus Ex,” Album director Larry Oji added. “With a focus on the original game alongside representation of both sequels, and Alexander Brandon himself being involved, there's a little something for every DX fan. Everyone did a great job capturing and expanding on the feel of the series in their own unique, interpretive ways – after all, sonic augmentation is what we do!"
