Former LA Noire employees from Team Bondi, now developing Whore of the Orient at KMM, have been made redundant a MCV Pacific report has said.
According to rumours all production on the game has ceased though the studio has not been formally closed as it seeks new revenue to produce the game.
Doug Miller, of Kennedy Miller Mitchell (KMM), has refused to comment directly on the reports simply saying "Whore of the Orient is a unique and extraordinary story and game, and we are still actively pursuing the right investor to partner with."
The title was a detective game based in Shanghai during 1936. According to the game's website players would be transported to "The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of the Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cope hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace."
Whore of the Orient never officially picked up a publisher but would likely have included LA Noire's Depth Analysis technology which allowed that game to display minute details in the performance of the characters.
