First FIFA 14 Images Released, New Features Detailed

April 17, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

One of the biggest sports games on the planet has its first screens and a release window.

The first screens and details for FIFA 14, or what EA describes as “the greatest sports game on the planet,” have just been released. A variety of gameplay enhancements, each of which is intended to make players feel the true emotional rush of scoring a goal on the world’s biggest stage, are included in the release.

This award-winning franchise has had fans transfixed for years, and while there was reassuance that the first details on all the nuances in this year’s release were quickly approaching, it’s been a difficult wait. We’ve recently compiled a list of what fans are asking for in FIFA 14, and it sounds like many of those prayers will be answered.

“FIFA 14 will play the way great matches are contested with build up through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing,” said David Rutter, Executive Producer for FIFA 14. “Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning.”

In order to enhance the game’s authenticity, both a Pure Shot mechanic and a brand-new ball physics system have been added to improve overall shooting. Pure Shot will allow players to adjust their stride and angle in order to best locate the goal and simulate the power of the kick. Real Ball Physics will also enhance overall feel, determining the ball’s trajectory and allowing for more exact shooting from any distance. Additions like Protect The Ball, Teammate Intelligence, Sprint Dribble Turns, and Variable Dribble Touches will continue to improve dedicated players’ talents.

In addition to the gameplay tweaks, a Global Scouting Network has been added to simulate the world of professional scouting. Now any player can create and refine a robust network and search around the world for the best undiscovered talent. Untested players will come with unique skill sets that can either make or break a team, and through the new hub meant to improve navigation, the process should be a breeze.

All the social features fans have come to expect will remain in FIFA 14, with a new online mode and a swath of fresh benefits to EA Sports Football Club present to strengthen the online community.

EA Canada’s FIFA 14 will be making its way to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC this fall. However, any “additional platforms” will be revealed in the coming months.
