It was recently announced that Trion Worlds would be letting players purchase a ‘Season Pass’ for their upcoming title Defiance. This essentially means that the player(s) can buy-in for a certain amount and receive the game’s downloadable content at a discounted price for however long the Pass is good for.
As it turns out, Trion Worlds are planning to put a good deal of value into this offering. Defiance will be garnished with over 10 gigabytes of downloadable content during 2013 and 2014. This doesn’t even discuss what happens further on down the road, but it’s sufficed to say that this might be a season pass worth buying into.
The open-world first-person shooter will be released on April 2, and has seemingly come up a bit fuzzy on the veritable radar until now. The Syfy show tie-in will take place in the San Francisco bay area of California after egregious ‘terraforming’ has reshaped the world’s face. This event led to new plant and animal species spawning, as well as the arrival of alien species, which resulted in a war that ravaged Earth’s landscape. The game’s story will use this lore and drop the player into the role of an ‘Ark Hunter,’ the likes of which are enlisted to search for expensive alien technology in the Bay area.
