Monster Hunter World Shipped 5 Million Units Worldwide in Three Days

January 29, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

Capcoms co-op adventure seems to be doing pretty well.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter World has had a pretty successful launch so far (besides the matchmaking issues on Xbox One) and it seems the shipping statistics behind the game are indicative of this.

Including digital downloads, Monster Hunter Wolrd has shipped 5 million units worldwide over the course of 3 days. As a result, the critically acclaimed title has thus set a new record for the series in the process. The news was announced via press release:

‘Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that Monster Hunter: World for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One*1 has shipped 5 million units worldwide (including digital download sales). A PC version is to be released at a later date. ‘

Alongside this, Capcom noted that it “remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.” As a result, fans can expect free DLC, including a new monster to hunt in the Spring and a film adaptation of the title in the coming future.

While the results aren’t necessarily indicative of the specific number of copies sold, it’s still a fairly accurate way of predicting how well the game has been doing.

Monster Hunter World is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
