Fornite Hits 40 Million Downloads; Devs Won’t Be Adding Vehicles

January 16, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

No vehicles coming to Fortnite anytime soon.

The free-to-play title made popular by the recently introduced Battle Royale mode, Fortnite has just hit a massive milestone. The game now boasts 40 million downloads in total, this is up 10 million from December’s 30 million downloads.

Epic Games hasn’t specified what exactly the spread is between the paid early access Save The World version and the Battle Royale mode, but I’d imagine that it’s most likely skewed in favor of the Battle Royale mode. Regardless, 40 million is a massive number for the studio to hold.

During an Interview with Rolling Stone, Battle Royale lead designer Eric Williamson said that they don’t plan on adding a new map or introducing vehicles anytime soon

“We don’t have a need to add vehicles to get around the map because our travel times allow you to get mostly wherever you want to go.”

The game is set to receive a new map update this week, making  “The swamps feel swampier, the mountains feel more mountainey,” Williamson continued stating that he really wanted the different areas of the map feel more unique.

Fornite is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Thoughts on Fortnite? Enjoying the game? Let us know in the comments below.
