Media Molecule Co-founder Named Australian Woman of the Year

March 14, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Siobhan Reddy, the co-founder of UK developer Media Molecule, has been named as Australian woman of the year.

Siobhan Reddy, Media Molecule's co-founder, has been named as Australian woman of the year the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Reddy, commeting on her win, said: "I feel its probably given me a bit of a rocket in the bum in some way."

"I've had my head down in the sand making things, that I've been bad in realising how low the number of women are within games. In the last months I've started to think more about how I can encourage young women to get into games."

Earlier this year Reddy was included in the BBC's list of the UK's most powerful women. She said she was "honoured and surprised" by her inclusion on the list.

Media Molecule, the creator of LittleBigPlanet, is currently developing Tearaway for PlayStation Vita and an unnammed PS Move based game for PS4.

Hopefully this represents a positive step forward for women in the industry and will encourage more women to develop games.
