The next power that Assassin’s Creed 3’s hero-protagonist will obtain in the upcoming DLC is the ability to turn into an eagle. That’s something he can do now. We live in that world. The DLC continues the episodic adventure that chronicles a “What If” narrative where George Washington, rather than bringing about the formation of a democratic nation, instead became a despotic monarch when his morality was tarnished by the game’s cynical macguffin, The Apple.
As it’s a What If game, sure, Connor can turn into an eagle now. Who’s to say he can’t? You? No chance. I bet you can’t even turn into the lowliest of creatures you Non-Kafkaesque joke. What authority do you have to say the guy can’t be an eagle if he wants? You hold no sway in this animal-transformation court.
The power doesn’t seem to last forever. You can’t just be an eagle and fly around the cities of revolutionary America majestically without a care in the world, this is serious, pay attention. The video of it in action shows it being used to climb up to higher levels instantly, or to jump down and dispatch foes at a further distance than you’d otherwise be able to. It’s performed through what looks like a glitch in the animus so there’s presumably no in-world fiction regarding this being a magical ability, instead it’s seemingly a quirk in the code. Assassin’s Creed is pretty silly.
You can turn into an eagle. That’s really a thing that happens. Goddamn.
