While we know that the PlayStation 4 will be with us by the end of the year (or at least early next year, probably for those of us in Europe), we've still had absolutely no word from Microsoft on when the next Xbox – codenamed Durango – will launch. But a casual comment from a man from Ubisoft (as spotted by NowGamer) suggests that Durango too will be vying for the spot at the top of your Christmas list.
An interviewer from Outside Xbox was in the middle of a conversation with Jean Guesdon – Creative Director for the upcoming Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag – when he asked (at 5:41):
“Is there going to be any delay between the versions, or are they going to all release at the same time?”
“Same ship,” Guesdon replied.
While Guesdon obviously doesn't mention Durango, this question and answer come immediately after the interviewer talks about how the game will launch on PlayStation 4 and “presumably any other next-gen consoles that are of similar specification” so we can assume Guesdon isn't thinking about the Wii U when he gives his answer.
That said, while Guesdon cracks a smile and opens his mouth to speak at the mention of these similarly specced “other next-gen consoles”, he doesn't get a chance to confirm or deny the supposition. So don't read this as fact. However, we can be pretty sure at this point that the next Xbox is on its way, and it would make a lot of sense for Microsoft to get it out at the same time as the PlayStation 4.
Will you get a PlayStation 4 in time to buy Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag when it launches on October 29?
