Undaunted by the failure of the mobile industry's past attempts to bring gaming to to cellphones, Sony Ericsson of all companies has announced the Xperia Play, an Android handset that plays video games. I guess we now know why Sony released the PSN app for the Android.
The announcement of the Xperia Play, which was long rumored to be in development, was made during the Super Bowl. The ad depicts a grimy looking man handing a scalpel to a back alley surgeon to unveil an Android robot with human thumbs. It looks disturbing to say the least.
More details about the phone will be revealed on Sunday, Feb 13 at the Mobile World Congress event.
