According to a tweet from a talented Scoop-Getter at Kotaku, Square-Enix have registered more domain names suggesting the announcement of a new game in the Deus Ex series coming very soon. All of these are related to the subtitle “The Fall”.
We were burned before, though, the last time this happened we were gearing up for the follow-on from Human Revolution after Square bought up a bunch of domains related to something called “Human Defiance”. It turned out to be the name of the upcoming film based on the series (despite the title shortening to HD, which would have made for a good subtitle of an up-rezzed re-release of the original game).
Deus Ex: The Fall, for all we know, might be the name of a book, a graphic novel or even a toy line. There’s no way to be certain until Square-Enix are finally able to reveal what they have in store. This might be a while off given the number of projects they’re currently involved in marketing.
I like to imagine it’s a theme park ride. One with a hidden vertical drop in the middle where passengers are encouraged to shout “I never asked for this!” as they descend. At the end there’ll be a photo booth that gives your picture sunglasses that look like they’ve come from inside your face. The gift shop will sell cool jackets. You’ll be able to hang out with someone cosplaying as Farida Malik.
I’m going to kickstarter with this idea immediately.
