Here’s how you can tell the kind of person I am. I’m aware that I shouldn’t really assume a high level of quality from 505’s upcoming Snoop Dogg licenced game Way of the Dogg, nor am I really interested in learning much more about it or ever bringing it up again, but I’m going to use this chance to talk about Snoop Dogg while I have it.
Gosh Snoop Dogg made some good songs, right?
Anyway, firstly we have to address the biggest question that the announcement of a Snoop Dogg game raises. As we’re all aware Snoop Dogg has recently donned a reggae focused persona and reincarnated himself as Snoop Lion. The developers at Echo Peak haven’t totally forgotten this like some goddamn fairweather rap-fans. They’re on top of things. Jeez.
The game, according to Tha Doggfather himself, is about his progression from Snoop Dogg into his current form. In a press release he, in a way that can’t possibly be perceived as a prepared statement from his PR associates, states:
“Everyone knows that Snoop is down with the biggest and best video games whether it’s droppin’ my hits on the soundtrack or showing the world I can go toe- to-toe with the best fighters on the street but Way of the Dogg is the first true gamification of my music. It’s the way you live, it’s the way you do what you do and captures the beat, the rhythm and the spirit of my music. It’s not just about who you are or where you’ve been but where you are headed to. This game shows how we evolve as individuals and they’ve incorporated the journey of my own personal reincarnation as Snoop Lion into my character, the environments and the path that players have to follow”
So what is this game?
I… I guess it’s a rhythm game with kung-fu moves and a soundtack that features Snoop Dogg on it a lot.
It’ll be out in April alongside the rapper’s new album!
