The Sims 3 University Life is available from today, and – as seems to be a requirement for games nowadays – EA has provided a launch trailer for the occasion. The video takes the form of an introductory video from the President of the university that is the focal point of the new expansion pack, offering “tips on how to survive university life”.
The first tip? Whatever your Sim might have been before university – whether “hipster, geek, outcast, or prep”, for instance – s/he can now be whatever s/he wants. And then we see a male Sim transform into a female one, the same person but with added breasts (and longer hair, and makeup). While the video bears the cautionary message “not all images representative of actual gameplay”, does this mean Sims will be able to get a sex change?
Communication is encouraged, we're told as we see roommates fighting. As is setting boundaries, unlike the guy who shuffles over to use the middle urinal of three even though another guy is already using the one at the end.
Then we get a few meme-style clips, which is pretty funny.
“Step away from social media,” the President says, though the introduction of the smartphone and social media into the game is one of the features the team has been bigging up. Then again, the suggestion is to focus instead on romance, as university is “the best place to get your WooHoo on”.
So, who's picking up this expansion pack today?
