The main Harry Potter novels and films may have come to an end some years ago now, but we’re still receiving plenty of Harry Potter goodness for fans of the franchise. For instance, we’re finding out that another Harry Potter video game title is in the works thanks to a report made by VentureBeat.
This is a new upcoming mobile title that’s not to be confused with the upcoming Niantic Harry Potter location-based video game. Instead, this particular video game is being developed by Jam City who has brought out video game titles such as Cookie Jam and Family Guy: Another Freakin’ Mobile Game.
If you’re afraid that this will be another mindless approach to the beloved franchise then we may be able to persuade you to hold off on the quick judgment. As it turns out, the development studio has been working on their upcoming Harry Potter title, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery for a couple years now and that was after sending their ideas to both J.K Rowling and Warner Bros., both of which gave their approval.
Jam City has noted that Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be an RPG title with a heavy emphasis on the narrative. Developers hope that this video game title will give players the feeling of being their own student within the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry.
Don’t expect to see the familiar student faces from the Harry Potter film or novel series. Instead, this game will be a prequel to the series taking place in the mid-1980s, after the Wizarding Wars. While you won’t see the likes of Harry Potter roaming the school grounds, players may find themselves with the presence of beloved or despised professors.
All-in-all, the video game has yet to make its way onto the mobile marketplace but you can expect to see the app launch sometime in the spring of 2018. Developers are slated to launch the title on all three major app marketplaces which are Google Play, Amazon Appstore, and lastly, the Apple App Store.
