In addition to the not nearly as relevant or meaningful to our everyday lives Ellen Page, the cast of David Cage’s upcoming Beyond: Two Souls will be joined by none other than the greatest living actor on earth, better than Adrian Brody or Kel from Keenan and Kel, history’s golden child, Willem Dafoe.
You'll recall Dafoe out of the films what he has been in like Spider-Man, Platoon, Being John Malkovich 2: District Dafoe, Spider-Man 2 and the other ones.
Dafoe will be playing the most Willem Dafoe named character of his entire career, “Nathan Dawkins”. It’s a name that in his accent sounds like you’re eating a luxurious peach wrapped in a cotton blanket. It’s a name that feels like a hug from the metaphysical concept of freedom.
His role in the story is that of a specialist dealing in paranormal events. Most relevant, the partnership of Ellen Page’s Jodie and her ghost friend Aiden. He realises that there’s a presence around this girl and begins to think of ways that it can benefit him. Dafoe, in a promotional interview, describes their relationship as “complicated”.
As we know, the tale is about Jodie’s 15 year journey from her youth, through her adolecence and into her early adulthood. Judging from the marketing it will involve her trying to get by as he’s accosted by demonic presences and people attempting to combat them.
This will make for Willem Dafoe’s first foray into video games that isn’t reprising an existing role from film in digital form.
