11 bit Studios announced today that their secret project, which has been teased on their website, is going to be Anomaly 2, a sequel to Anomaly Warzone Earth.
This real-time strategy game is a tower defense versus tower offense game, where players can build up war mechs in different ways in order to appeal to a certain situation. You can play as either the mechs working to destroy the towers, or as the towers themselves. Depending on your approach, you can get one of many alternate endings.
The studio also promises "more than a million tactical combinations" for true customization and personal gameplay, according to a press release.
Anomaly 2 also features both a single player campaign and multiplayer.
The game was available last week on their website as part of a secret pre-order sale. 11 bit Studios challenged users to buy the game at half off. Apparently the risk paid off. The trailer is below, and it is obvious that 11 bit Studios put a lot of time and effort into the visuals and the action, which look gorgeous.
Whether or not the game is good won't be known until it is released, but we can at least understand the hype.
The game will be available on PC, Mac, and Linux for $14.99. It will be available in Q2 2013.
