Michel Ancel, creator of the Rayman series and the cult-classic Beyond Good & Evil is rumored to be leaving Ubisoft upon the completion of his next game, Rayman Legends. French website Gamekult received word from sources close to the publisher that Ancel is considering departing the company along with a small team of developers, many of whom work closely with Ancel.
The developers, including Ancel, were photographed earlier this month protesting the delay of Rayman Legends, sharing in their dismay with fans disheartened by the game’s postponement.
Based on the information available, we speculate that Ancel and his team are unhappy over how they were treated during the game’s development and how they were forced to into ‘crunch mode’ due to the game’s original 2013 release schedule.
Besides Rayman Legends, Ancel confirmed last year that he was on Beyond Good & Evil 2. However, should the rumors of his planned departure prove true, the development of the aforementioned game may be in doubt.
