4J Studios, developers of the Xbox360 version of Minecraft, have recently published a screenshot of upcoming update to the game number nine. Because of splitscreen, one screenshot has revealed a number of things concerning the coming update, namely item frames.
While the EnderDragon, End Portal and item dispensers are all very exciting, it is these little item frames that bring the most to this content. What are these, you ask? They are square panels that allow you to store items in almost any surface – pressure plates, fences, cactus blocks, cobblestone walls, trees, slabs and all other solid blocks. Placing and removing these item frames is as easy as clicking them, so their usefulness as both décor and storage are almost infinite.
Some of the more unique uses of these frames are found in their ability to be more than storage. You can use them as lightning sources by storing fire in them or help visitors out by storing a map of your monstrous creation inside of them.
The End Portal and Ender Dragon discussed earlier are also notable parts of this update, and offer a new degree of challenge for the player. To access the End Portal, you’ll need to take some Ender Eyes with you. Once you’re through and ready to fight, make sure you are ready for the Ender Dragon. He wields a nasty knockback attack that will keep you away from him, so it’s advised that you dig a hole in the ground so you can stick in one place more easily.
