Arma 3, Bohemia Interactive's new project, will be a Steam exclusive, according to an announcement made by the studio.
The game is still in development despite a setback back in September when two of the studio's developers were arrested and charged with espionage.
"As an independent developer, we're constantly evaluating the way we develop, distribute and publish games," Bohemia boss Marek Španel explained. "Valve made tremendous improvements to their system, which made the installation/update process much more user-friendly – for both developers and customers."
According to Eurogamer, the game will still be available as a boxed copy. Whether it will come with a Steam code, or a CD that will speed up installation is not known.
Bohemia also teased Steamworks functionality for possible future features such as online multiplayer.
Greece has strict laws regarding photography of military bases. The developers were doing research for Arma 3 when they were arrested. They were subsequently jailed for four months.
