Popular First Person Shooter Franchise Battlefield will have a new game out next year. It’ll be called “Battlefield 4” as it’s the fourth main game in the Battlefield franchise (there are other Battlefield games, though, that aren’t included in those 4. There are quite a few, in fact! There are ones set in the recent past, the less recent past, the near future, the far future and even alternate realities! Maybe we sell first person shooters too short on their level of variety?)
It was leaked earlier in the week that store managers from assorted Gamestops all around the US were gathered together and shown the upcoming game. A tweet was dropped by the chain’s CEO and it spread far and wide. Frank Gibeau addressed it directly and confirmed that the game will be released next year. It will also definately be coming out on the next generation of consoles.
Last month Gibeau told shareholders that we’d hear more specifics on the franchise in 90 days. That means we’ll hear more in April. Presumably that means that something will occur around the same time, if not the same day, that we hear about Microsoft’s newest electronic game playing box.
Perhaps it’s too early to be certain, but Gameranx is willing to put their reputation on the line and suggest that in Battlefield 4 you will shot a lot of people for questionably moral reasons using assault weaponry and other similar small armaments. You’ll also have access to a multiplayer function where you will use vehicles in large maps. In this multiplayer you’ll be incentivised to keep returning because you’ll gradually unlock new items to aid your combat effectiveness.
