Horror fans rejoice: Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs has been assembled and shipped out, according to a status update on Frictional Games' website.
Jens Nilsson stated that The Chinese Room–the studio behind the critically-acclaimed and atmospheric Dear Esther–has sent Frictional the final version of the game, although this does not mean that the game will be out exactly soon.
"Some work is still left to be done," he said. "We are testing, tweaking, optimizing, porting, translating and all those things that are part of the process of creating and releasing a game. Currently we are looking at a release around Q2 2013."
So the game is currently looking at a summer 2013 release. This may not be the most appropriate date for a horror game, but the game was supposed to be released in Halloween 2012. So what happened? Well according to Nilsson, it was to improve the game beyond what they had anticipated. So good for us.
"Originally we thought it would be a short, experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia," he said. "As their work progressed, the potential for a much greater project emerged. What we ended up with is no longer what we had first imagined, but a fully fledged Amnesia game."
This obviously gets us excited, as Amnesia was on our list of the most anticipated PC games of 2013.
While little is currently known about the game, teasers and small snippets have been released by the studio. Start having nightmares with the trailer below.
