Despite the new browser game coming out as soon as March 14, we've heard little but whispers and rumors about the Kingdom Hearts spinoff. The news was dug out by Siliconera who noticed bonus items for the game in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. The title is another odd one: Kingdom Hearts X[chi] to be exact, as in the Greek letter chi. According to Destructoid, chi in the Kingdom Hearts universe uses the pronunciation "key" rather than using "kai" which is more frequently seen.
You won't be playing as Sora in this game, but rather an original character who travels to – you guessed it – Disney worlds.
You get the bonus items X[chi] when you preorder Kingdom Hearts 1.5 H remix. Specifically, first print copies include a code for an item set which gives players a Sora (R+) card, 20,000 munny, and 4,000 card draw points. If you purchase Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix from Square Enix directly you also get a battle support set with a Riku (R+) card, 10 potions, and 10 ethers.
Cards as a gameplay element was present in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, to mixed reactions. Similarly, cards can be used in battles in X[chi]. You can use munny to synthesize cards and draw points can be exchanged for cards. Instead of restoring HP, potions let you do actions and ether seems to be used exclusively to defeat bosses.
The game is being developed by an outside developer, Success Corporation who has some experience in developing browser-based games.
