We had limited confirmation last week from a leaked poster that hot unreleased game Watch Dogs would be coming to non-specific home consoles by this holiday season. It was a weird statement that technically confirmed our expectations of a release date but didn’t really say much about the platforms that it would be released on. We’re maybe a little closer to figuring out what that means now.
Before it was difficult to figure out if that meant consoles that will be announced in the coming weeks, whether mentioning consoles only and forgetting to bring up the PC at all meant that it might be an exclusive, whether or not this would be a split release over two console generations or if the Wii U was going to be considered for release at all.
According to listings from Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop, the Wii U (along with the PC) is a dead-certainty, with each retailer letting users know they can preorder the game on all four current platforms.
The worrying now starts when we consider announcements of new consoles and whether we’ll see the availability listings for Sony and Microsoft’s boxes updated and replaced or stacked alongside the ones already there.
Either way, it’s nice to know that Ubisoft’s 3rd Person Cyber-Crime thing that seems like a good video game from a very limited and publisher controlled viewing will be coming out eventually and we’ll be able to play it on things that we own. Hurray for video games. They’re great.
