Desmond's story is over, but the Assassin's Creed universe is far from done. Ubisoft revealed two weeks ago its plans to continue the series, and it appears that they intend to do just that with a press event next week.
The publisher today revealed its plans (via MCV) to host a press event on February 27 to talk about the future of Assassin's Creed, where the next title in the series—presumably Assassin's Creed 4—is expected to make its debut appearance. Like the recent Destiny event, Ttere's a good chance it won't be playable, but Ubisoft intends to reassure the series' fans that there's still plenty yet to explore in the setting.
According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the new game will feature an all new hero (or possibly heroine) who's accompanied by an all new ensemble of supporting characters. Like Desmond, the new protagonist will venture into his or her past and relive a period of history never before explored in the series.
Given what we know of the tentative title, it stands to reason that the publisher intends to do more than just repeat the statements its CEO made two weeks ago, and actually expound upon the game with details of its setting and protagonist.
We'll keep you in the loop as the information of the next Assassin's Creed title becomes available.
In the meantime, you can play with the first episode of The Tyranny of King Washington, which was just released.
