A few days ago, a propaganda video from North Korea surfaced on YouTube after it was posted online by the reclusive nation's social media account, 'Uriminzokkiri'.
The video showed scenes of a North Korean man in peaceful slumber as guided missiles launched by the country fly across the globe and strike coastal cities in North America. The propaganda video carried implications that any war waged against the United States of America by North Korea would not affect anyone in North Korea because of their military might and technological superiority to the United States.
The propaganda video uses scenes from Activision and Treyarch's Call of Duty series, depicting New York City in flames as it's bombarded by ballistic missiles and airstrikes. Scenes from the games were used without Activision's permission, prompting the publisher to have YouTube pull the video on copyright grounds.
The BBC states that the text in the scene reads: "Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing. It seems that the nest of wickedness is ablaze with the fire started by itself."
The publication further reports that the film tells a story of the dream of a new world order, established by a Unified Korea. The film is in contrast to official statements by North Korean officials that their nuclear and space programs are intended for peaceful purposes only. Regardless of their claims, the nation's attempts to fire ballistic missiles into space and carry out nuclear tests have received widespread condemnation from the international community.
Although the originally uploaded video has been pulled from YouTube, it has since been reposted on numerous YouTube accounts documenting the video.
