It would appear that Fire Emblem: Awakening is one of the most eagerly anticipated 3DS title to date. At least going by all the chatter happening online, of people frustrated by their inability to obtain a physical copy.
There have been widespread reports that the retail edition, which was supposed to be available yesterday, are nowhere to be found. According to Game Informer, there have been some kind of unforeseen shipping delay in Amazon's end, and there's no real word when those who pre-order their copies will be receiving them.
The Game Informer reporter also called his local Best Buy and GameStop for info; the former said they wouldn't be getting copies till February 6th, the latter February 8th.
Meanwhile, there are reports some Best Buys and other stores, like Target, have plenty of copies available. But this entirely depends on where you are (here in NYC, they're apparently scarce). And if one looks online, one will find a copy going for as high as $62.00, as of this writing. This is for a game that is not a limited release and which normally retails for $39.99. Utterly ridiculous.
Hopefully everything will be ironed out in due fashion. In the meanwhile, it's worth noting how the digital version is available via the Nintendo eShop, and has been for some time now. Though as Tiny Cartridge points out, there are definite perks for having a physical copy.
