Pretty much every Sega fan will agree that their re-releases of classic arcade and console offerings, via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Especially in the case of the former; after many, many years, we're finally getting arcade perfect versions of Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter 2. Gamers in their mid-30s (myself included) could not be happier.
Which is which is why it is especially disheartening to hear that re-releases of both Virtua Striker and Virtual-On will not be coming to the United States as many expected, according to Siliconera.
Virtua Striker, alas, is not that big of a surprise; aside from soccer's popularity in America (which is to say that it's not very), the original arcade release was hardly seen on these shores.
Whereas Virtual-On has always had a modest, yet very dedicated fan base. Furthermore, the sequel, Oratorio Tangram, was released in the US on XBLA some years ago.
Oh well. At least we got Fighting Vipers.
