Over on its official blog, SEGA has released a new trailer for Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines called "Tactical Multiplayer." As expected, it shows of the game's multiplayer aspect, but what's surprising here is that we're not only shown what abilities the Marines have, but we also get to see some from the Xenomorph's perspective, too.
One of these Xenomorph abilites is called the Multi-Surface Movement, which allows Xenos to be camouflaged on walls and ceilings. Another ability from the alien crowd is the Smoke Screen, wherein the Xenos can emit thick clouds of smoke to conceal their position. However, it's not just alien abilities we get to see today, as we're also shown the "Boiler" Xeno class that has a kamikaze attack where it self-destructs its head to spray deadly acid onto Marines in the process.
Over on the Marines side, we see the Revive ability being put to use, as well as the different armaments the humans can use against the physically superior Xenomorphs. There are shotguns, the M56 Smart Gun, and the M240 Incinerator Unit
According to SEGA all the weapons in the game — from smart gun, legendary weapons and explosives — will be fully customizable, just like the multiplayer character themselves. For the Xenomorphs, they have the Soldier, Lurker and Spitter classes to choose from, which will have their own customizable attacks and appearances.
Regardless on which side you choose for the multiplayer, it seems Gearbox Software has the tension part all figured out.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is set to hit the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 12, with the Wii U version coming in at a later date.
